ParticipantI have a brandt built under double oven the the top oven works but the bottom oven has stopped working . Nothing but the fan works in the bottom oven. The grill element in the bottom oven doesn’t work nor does the fan element. This fault occured after the grill in the bottom oven was left on for a 2hours by mistake. The grill is not normally used. I wonder what might be wrong? . Is there a thermal trip or something ? Can anyone help me??? 😀 ❓

It may be the cooling fan you can hear running, check the timer (if it has one) isn’t on auto mode.
There well be a thermal cut-out as well, without the model though I can’t check for sure 🙂

Dave, thanks for the reply. The oven is a BRANDT twinline FMT24. I have just tried the oven. It has 2 modes which are fanheat and turbo grill. The fan which is operating is the one by the element in the back of the oven. When I just tried the oven in fan heat mode the grill element came on ???!!!,but the oven element gave off no heat. When I turned it to turbo grill mode, the fan still operates but the grill element was off. This seems to be the wrong way round, so what can have gone wrong ???? I hope you can help me .
Thanks Bob

Has the control knob broken by any chance and is spinning on the shaft of the selector switch indicating the wrong position ?
Apart from that, the selector switch itself may be the cause but I would recommend an engineer checks this for you if the knob is OK, try Repairs@ for one 🙂
If you do decide to have a look yourself, ensure the power is off :zap:

Dave thanks for your help. This is vey embarasing to admit, But i seem to have been lead up the wrong path buy my wife 🙁 . The only problem is the fan oven doesn’t work. So it would apprear that the fan oven element has blown. Could you please give me a price for the element.
Thanks
Bob ( I wish I could erase the previous posts) 😀 😀November 17, 2005 at 11:18 am #154182Dave_Conway
