ParticipantHi,
I’m looking for some help/advice about a problem with my Brandt Fridge Freezer model CFA361XU. The freezer is not working properly, items at the top started to defrost/thaw and this has gradually worked its wasy down to the items at the bottom. It is still cold, and if you put water (ice cube trays) in they will freeze, but its not cold enough to freeze food properly.
I have checked the seal on the door and that seems fine, the fridge is working fine.
Can anyone offer any suggestions to the problem please? and also recommend any engineers in the Bracknell area – I have tried the repairs@ service, but it didn’t return any results.
Thanks in advance
Simon

To add some further information, the unit is a frost free device and the refridgerant type is R600a.
After reading the article about frost free refridgeration I inspected the unit further. There is a build up of light frost on the middle botton panel at the back of the freezer. There was also a build up of ice at the bottom of the freezer, the width of the unit and about an inch deep and amybe up to an inch high (I didn’t find this, my partner just told me she found it and removed it).
Any thoughts or ideas please? And especially an recommendations for engineers in the Bracknell area? I really need to get this sorted out soon.
Thanks

It may be worth trying a complete defrost (48 hours) as the ice build up may be restricting the air flow.
For an engineer, please pop up the first part of your postcode and I’ll check for you π

Sorry, no refrigeration engineers listed on my list either π
Try the defrost and see what happens. In the meantime, any fridge engineers reading this covering RG codes, can you help please (also contact admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you would like extra work from repairs@ ;))
Dave.

Hi all, just found this forum and thread while surfing, I also have a Brandt Fridge Freezer which no longer defrosts. I have dismantled the rear panel inside, and manually defrosted it three times now, the first time was last year and took almost a whole day with a hair drier, never seen such hard ice! Now itβs not freezing food fully again. Before I give up and spend out on a new one can anyone offer advice on where the problem might be? I canβt see any obvious electronics so I guess they are well hidden. Any engineers like to have a go? Postcode is WD19 (Watford).

i also have the same problem with my brandt which is under two years old. contacted comet and their repair estimate was close to the cost of a replacement! i wont be shopping at comet again as they even rip their customers off with a premium rate 08 no. this is such a common fault that repairers i have contacted guess the problem as soon as i mention the make, none can obtain spares to fix it though. my post code is en8 if there is any one who can sort this. but from looking on other sites it would seem this freezer is a throw away.

Follow the repairs@ link below zander, there’s various Independent repairers listed there who can help π
All should be able to source Brandt spares easily enough but I can help if you get stuck.
Dave.
