ParticipantI have a tall Brandt Fridge freeze about 4 years old, which no longer maintains freezer temperature. THe fridge section is fine, the freezer runs about -2celcius. It is also leaking underneath. I turned it off for 24 hours, as a lot of ice had built up on the back wall of freezer. After turning it on again the freezer temperature fell to -18celcius but gradually rose over a week, and the leak stopped for a couple of days then reappeared.
I repeated the above turnoff, and again the freezer chilled to -18celcius, and each day I am cleaning ice buildup on the freezer back wall vent, this seems to have stopped the leak, but temperature still rises to near 0celcius over a few days.
Any suggestions please on what to try next as it’s driving me nutsJuly 15, 2007 at 8:42 am #221101Simon46

You seem to have a problem with the defrost operation within the freezer compartment

Participanttry a pcb
that particular machines suffer from irregular defrost patterns.. a pcb SHOULD help
further to that, whatever you do,a full, 48hr defrost with both doors open will be necessary, and will cure your problem short term
the pcb part number is 43X9136
hope this helps

I also have this freezer (over 2 yrs old) and the same problems, freezer at -2oC and occasional leaking water. However, I haven’t looked behind the appliance yet, to see if there is an ice build-up?
I have read loads of bad reviews on the internet about Brandt freezers breaking under 3 years old etc…but a lot of people have said the compressor was to blame (~£170).
A comet guy is due out on Saturday to look at ours (£75), do people think its worthwhile, because if the compressor is to blame, we won’t be able to afford £75 and £170 for the part and may as well buy a new one?
What is the pcb mentioned above and how much will that cost?
Cheers Elle
