Our fridge freezer is 18 month old and has started heating up, ruining all of the food in the freezer and fridge. It does get cold again, does anybody have any clues?

Possibly a faulty thermostat (if it has one) but without a model number we will have nothing to work on I’m afraid 😉

i have a Brandt aswell…if its a frost free one there is a common fault with these freezers in that the frost free mechanism freezes up and it will therefore not let your freezer work..1st make sure freezer is turned OFF!!The remedy is to remove all drawyers from freezer compartment and you will then see a white panel with poppers holding it in place, very carefully pull the panel towards you bit by bit until it is removed(bit tricky).. once removed there will be a polystyrene panel, if defrosted enough you should be able to remove this without breaking it..if it wont come defrost somemore.. behind that polystyrene panel is the frost free unit. Again you need to completely defrost this unit as any little piece of ice will stop it freezing, and check fan can spin freely without being blocked by ice.. once done replace all pieces and “bingo” should be ok! you must allow a long time for the fridge freezer to go back to temperature sometimes 24hours… this is a very common fault on these freezers and have been told they can go like this sometimes once every 6 months!! Heating up or just defrosting?
