My 14 month old freezer had developed loud ice cracking noises and general loud humming noises for a while. Now the freezer is inop, however the fridge is ok. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Give the fridge lads a chance here – tell us the model number!

    Re: brandt frost free problem

Not a DIY repair this, there could be several causes from

    1) defrost problem 2) drainage problem 3) defrost stat problem

The humming might be the circulation fan blades jammed by ice, one way to solve it is to defrost entirely for 36 hours door open.

When turned on, if it seems to work, the problem may still be there but will be one of the three I’ve mentioned.

    Re: brandt frost free problem

Many thanks for your replies. I will do as you say and defrost the freezer, and hopefully this will solve the problem. I will let you know. Oh I cant find the serial number anywhere!. There are no markings anywhere on the unit. And the manual seems to be general standard.
