ParticipantI have a fault on this CK2000 hood; on selecting a fan speed, instead of the fan starting up immediately, there is a 5 – 10 minute delay and finally the fan will start and then work as normal.
Any ideas which is the faulty component here?August 14, 2023 at 6:39 pm #487803electrofix
Moderatorcan you hear the fan motor trying to start ?
look at the fan and see if its moving even very slowly

ParticipantHi, thanks for the reply. Neither of the fans move at all, on speed settings 1,2,3 or 4. The only thing that you can hear is a very quiet electrical buzz when fan is activated at the switch, but it is very faint. When it finally starts working minutes later, the fans turn as normal.

Moderatorwhen you hear the buzz try giving the fan a push and see if it tries to go

Moderatorwhich means in my opinion your probably looking at a board problem as the motor is not energised for 8 minutes. if the motor had tried to start it may have been a capacitor

ParticipantThanks Dave, I have searched on line for a PCB, the only thing I can find, is on the ukwhitegoods site, and is the ‘Cooker hood switch module’ , described as the switch unit and PCB assembly. Does this sound like the part that I need?

if its this one then I dont think thats the main pcb. it looks like a control board only. there must be another power board in there somewhere

ParticipantThanks Dave, that’s a shame, I can’t find a main pcb for sale anywhere for this model. Do you have any recommendations of where else to try? Stefan

Moderatorthink the first thing to do is find it and see if any components look odd
look for capacitors with bulging tops
