ParticipantJust about to order door hinges for large Britannia oven door – part number SPI A02822. but now find that the receivers are bent and left one is adrift! Have located spare receivers at UK Whitegoods but how do I get at the receivers? Seems to me that I have to virtually dismantle the cooker! Am I missing something?
Hope you can help
George

On my 90cm large door, the receivers are held in place by one screw just below the hinge opening. After removing that screw the receiver can be accessed from the plate warming area below the oven. Get ready to catch it and you will see which way round to install the new one. It’s simple enough, no need to dismantle any more of the oven.

Thanks Zasky – sounds very simple! I’ll give it a go. I had noticed the screw that you refer to – both sides were very loose but I was reluctant to take the screws out completely in case I “lost” the receivers inside the oven casing!
Many thanks

Have now got hinges and receivers but I’m afraid that removing the receivers is not as straightforward as Zasky found with his oven.
My cooker is 1997 Dual fuel twin oven and it’s the large oven door that has the problem. The receivers are retained by a single screw as described by Zasky but there is no way that the receivers can fall into the plate warming space as he found with his oven.
Has anybody any further ideas as to how to get the receivers out and replaced??Many thanks

Done! Had to remove various cover plates in “roof” of plate warming space and also fix the upper brackets that holds the top of the rollers in place – the spot welds that attach the brackets bracket to the oven frame had rusted through but managed to get a couple of self tapping screws in.
Don’t think I’d recommend anyone to buy a Britannia range cooker, pretty shoddy construction and also found Britannia Service and Advice desk very unhelpful, their only advice was to “get one of our engineers” but when pressed admitted that it would take 3-4 weeks before they could send an engineer!! -
