Hi I have just purchased two new hinges and runners from Uk Whitegoods for the large oven on a dual fuel Brittania range oven. I have fitted the runners and the hinges and reassembled the door but can I get the door back on the cooker?. No I can’t, I have been trying for several hours now and cannot get the lower part of the hinge to go in far enough to engage. I can see exactly how it should go and how it works but I have tried every which way but cannot quite get them in. I am guessing there must be a technique to it.(which I clearly have not got) Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thank you

after you fitted the hinges did you put them in the locked position before you tried to put the door back

no you have to lock them first

get a cloth to protect your hands

lay door on floor. push the arm down with one hand and latch the lock with the other and release slowly. if it locks do the same to the other side

you will not get it back if its not locked

    Re: Brittania Oven Door Replacement

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for getting back to me – I think they are different hinges to the ones you are referring to, the arms go in first then the bottom section has a groove cut out which is meant to click into place. I cannot quite get these to into position. It looks so simple but they will just not go! I have in the past taken the door off for cleaning but now it just will not go. I will just have to keep persevering!
Thank you for trying to help

they all work that way. you put top arm in first and then the bottom bit
but unless you lock the top arm down you will really struggle to overcome vthe heavy spring

if you get stuck post a few pictures of old and new hinges

    Dave,
Sincere apologies you are correct and it worked! I was looking at the Britannia manual and it made no mention of this at all!
Thank you very much for your help it is much appreciated. I sort of new it must be something fairly simple and not just brute force!
