    Hi all,

I managed to smash the glass panel in the door frame on my BEKO washing machine recently by dropping a heavy oven dish on it.

If I were to buy a new door assembly and fit it myself with a screwdriver rather than get a professional engineer in, what could be the possible consequences? Is it a fairly simple job to replace the entire door assembly?

Also if there are tiny shards of glass that got into the drum, apart from shredded clothes, what else could happen to the machine?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hiya,

It’s pretty straightforward to replace the door, even just the glass itself if the door frame is okay which would also save you some money. Usually the door will be supplied in all the bits, door frame outer trim, door frame, handle, latch etc.

Dave will be able to get the parts for you and advise if it is available as a complete unit, just drop him a line on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

As for any glass in the machine, I’d run it through a maintenance wash just to clear it in case but, about the worst that it likely to happen is bits of glass in the pump I expect. There are other things that could possibly happen, but it would be unlikely and unlucky.
