ParticipantHi, I have an Electrolux EOB976 built in oven which has stopped working. I was using the grill the other day and when I went to check it had stopped working. The power light comes on when oven or grill function is selected but when I select a temperature the fan doesnt come on and the temperature light doesnt come on, and also there’s no heat! I thought it was the thermostat so ordered a new one and have just fitted it but still no difference. Any ideas would be very much appreciated so I don’t keep ordering and fitting parts!!
Thanks

Possible fault with a contact in the selector switch assuming both fan and element are ok .

Is there any way of checking this without replacing loads of parts?
Thanks

usually a visual inspection of switch contacts is enough.

Hi
Have you checked that the clock is set to manual and not auto,it has to be set to manual to work.

okay so just got home from work and checked the contacts on the selector switch but there’s no signs of any damage so not convinced its that, and other ideas? Oh and yes its set manual so no simple fix there unfortunately

There could be a problem with the timer. You will need to check the continuity across the terminals ,as this will give the same symptoms you describe.
Power off first!!

I take it I would need a metre to test that?

Afraid so,or a fuse tester or the like.

Is this a single oven with 3 knobs one of which is a ‘Countdown Timer”?
If so, someone’s not put that 3rd knob onto manual.

yes its a single oven with the 3 knobs but the timer is definitely on manual, if the timer is faulty I’m guessing this could have the same effect? Maybe I should replace the timer and hope its that!

I assume you’ve turned the timer between on and off to see if its just a bad contact problem within the timer?

Or set the timer to say 40 mins to see if it works on timed cook?

yeah tried playing around with the timer but no luck. Timer seems to work and selector seems to work for oven and grill function but not for the 3rd function (whatever that is!!), light stays off when thats selected. Also no light for the temperature which is why I thought it was that! Starting to wonder if it could be the grill element possibly?

Time to unplug the oven then get out the test meter on the elements. 😉
