    Hi

I have a Baumatic bdw456.1 and I have a problem with the door. To be more specific, the ‘latch’ at the right, rear bottom of the door.

The latch on my machine seems to have come adrift, and although I can’t actually see it, I suspect it has come from its moorings and is loose. I can’t see it because it is concealed by the casing at the edge of the machine. When it’s in its position on its peg the latch is jamming something, and I can’t close the door. It’s only when I lift the latch off its peg and push it all up inside the machine that we can close the door.

What sort of a job is it to open up the machine and look at what the problem might be. Is it likely to be come adrift because of a screw or is it more likely to be a broken fixing that needs riveting or some other fixing.

The machine is probable six years or so old and works perfectly apart from that.

    Cheers

    Xavier

For what it’s worth, I repaired it :

Remove the side of the affected side panel (about 12 screws) and it’s then easy to see what the problem was. In this case, the right side toggle spring had snapped and the remaining one (on the left side) was unable to hold the weight on the door by itself.

Replacement is easy – just see how the other side looks like – and replace it, job’s done. The only painful part was the price, which was ludicrous. About £17.00 plus postage for a small spring. 😕

    Have a nice day now….
