ParticipantHi,
I have a Baumatic BT2710SS dual fuel range cooker with no power. What started as an intermittent fault where sometimes the gas burner ignition wouldn’t work progressed to the two ovens sometimes cutting out, and is now no power to anything.
The MCB is not tripped when the controls are used, and the isolating switch on the wall has a glowing LED indicator when the power is switched on so there is power provided, but neither of the ovens work, nor the gas ignition. The green LED power light for the ovens doesn’t come on either.
Anyone have any ideas what might have failed?
Thanks.

Main connection failure between wall switch and oven unit by the sounds of it. Time to drag out the oven and check power cable terminal block at the back me thinks.

Hi Martin… thanks for the quick answer… I’ll have a look and see what I can see.

I’ve had a look at the back and that looked fine, so I took the back cover off and the connection box also looked good… following the cables up the back though I came across a lot of scorching around the oven connections, mainly the small one. I’ve attached some pictures although they didn’t stay oriented correctly.
I’m no expert but I don’t think that should be happening!
I’m loathe to replace the thing as I’m moving house some time this year and I don’t know what I’ll need in the new place, but is it worth trying to repair?

Judging by those images a thorough inspection and electrical safety testing throughout is the next step. A prudent move would be to seek the help of a local independent repairer to take a look for you.

Thanks again Martin, it’s really good of you to reply. It’s sort of what I thought… I’ve posted a request on here to see if there’s anyone local. I did email a couple of places before Christmas that were in my area, but they haven’t responded. I’ll see what happens.
