ParticipantQuite by accident I have found a new way to clear bubbles from a foaming dishwasher. Neutrodol air freshener!
The dishwasher had not been used for weeks and smelt quite disgusting. After the repair (dispenser solenoid open circuit) I turned it on to test it and bubbles everywhere! (I think I had spilt lots of rinse aid in the tub.) My usual trick to get rid of bubbles is to wash my hands inside with some bath soap and this usually works well. However there was no way I was going to put my hands in this machine without killing the smell first. One squirt of air freshener and the bubbles dissapeared. Apparently its the propellent used in aerosol sprays that does the trick.
I have since used this in a washing machine with the same immediate results.
Is this a known ‘trick of the trade’ that I have missed for the last 18 years or have I found something new.

That’s an excellent tip bobokines, until now whenever I have spilt rinse aid into a diswasher, the only way of clearing up was for me to throw a bowl of very hot water into the tub to rinse it out (which also works).
So the aerosol trick will be far less messy…Thanks for that !

LawrenceI use a bar of soap in the soap drawer hot fill side, some soaps like Dove, and other heavily perfumed soap bars will not work, but most will break down the detergent very quickly. This was an old trick we used to use on twin tubs, when the spinner got soap locked, rub the inside of the spinner drum with a bar of soap and before your very eyes the suds dissapeared.
Works much quicker than fabric softener with the right soap. 🙂The same thing happens with bubble bath, the foam will soon break down if you use the right kind of soap. ( thats why I know that Dove is ineffective ) 😉

did the bar of soap trick in a dishwasher today, porblem is its getting harder to find a bar of good old fashined soap in a kitchen these days given the amount of liquid stuff around, which doesnt work the same so dont try it!
