ParticipantHi. I can’t find a replacement seal for this freezer anywhere. It’s built-in, so will I still be able to get a replacement door or get a whole new fridge? I’m worried that the sizes of these fridges will have changed!!!

ModeratorSchreiber was owned by MFI from the early 1980’s , If I remember this correctly these were available in the mid to late 80’s which makes this approaching 40 years old.
The main company which held spares for this brand, Diplomat and Hygena was a company called AWS who closed down a few years ago. There are virtually no spares available so it really is time to call it a day and replace the appliance.
If you measure the outside wooden doors and count the number of freezer drawers I can point you in the right direction. Also check if there are plastic runners between the decor doors and the appliance doors as there are two different types of hinges available.

ParticipantThank you so much. The outside doors are a weird size – 28 and 1/4 inches x 23 inches. Inside the freezer yhere is a largish top space which should have a folding down flap and 2 drawers. I realise I have put that it’s my freezer that’s faulty . It’s actually the fridge, but the sizing will be the same.

ParticipantPhoto of the door because I wasn’t sure what you meant about the plastic runners.

Moderatorthe plastic runners are part of how the outer door connects to the freezer door
from the look of the photo yours does not have them
if it has runners the outer door is hinged to the cabinet and the fridge door has its own hinges but it looks like your doors maybe using the fridge door hinge for both

ParticipantThank you. You said I should get a new appliance anyway. Do you still think that?

ModeratorI believe from your sizing you have a 70:30 split integrated fridge freezer. You will need to check any new appliance will take your existing decor doors.
As for the hinging it would you appear you have what is called fixed hinging so your replacement needs to have the same. You can install a freestanding appliance in the housing which would be a cheaper option but you would need to lose the decor doors. Hotpoint and Beko amongst others will fit. Just make sure you measure well before purchasing.
