    Hi

Does anyone know how a microwave could end up like this? It’s from where I work- under the mica sheet the metal casing has slightly burned away like a crap welding job. Here’s a pic…

I’ve not seen this happen before- does anyone know what might have caused- splatters not wiped off or is it some major failure. It’s only a year or 2 old.

    Cheers

    Hi

Usually caused by appliance not being cleaned properly , and crud building up around wave guide.

Given the ” condition ” of the rest of the cavity, I think it is likely to be due to splashed food, which will continue to cook every time you reheat your coffee etc…anything with a high fat content ( cheese, butter etc etc ) will be worse than other bits but all will eventually do this

    Thanks for the replies.

Is it better to stop using the microwave though?
