My Bush Freezer M5085UCFR has stopped working, it’s only 2 years old.

Around 2 weeks ago we had a power cut that lasted no more than 3/4 hours. A few days later I noticed the food in the freezer was all soft. I unplugged the freezer & plugged it back in & it came back on. For some reason it never came back on when the power was restored. I have another appliance plugged into the same socket & had no problems with it so not the socket.

Then last week same again went to the freezer & food was soft. Tried the same again plugging out & in again, it didn’t work this time. Tried it in another socket , nothing. Compressor at back was cold.
I thought maybe as I hadn’t noticed it never came back on after the power cut for 2, possibly 3 days that maybe water had built up & then froze when starting it again blocking something. So I completely defrosted it , noting that all the ‘elements’ are exposed in this model , also a copper wire exposed.
Had it unplugged throughout, still nothing. I had to go out so I thought to plug back in in case it came on & hey presto it worked!
I changed the fuse on the plug just in case it got damaged when the power was restored

Then this morning same again , food starting to defrost. I had used the freezer last night & it was fine.
Tried all the same again, unplugging/pugging, checked sockets, fully defrosted making sure no ice or water left behind but it won’t power back on.
Each time this has happed the Compressor is cold to the touch.

I’d rather not have to replace it as it’s only new. But my electrical knowledge is very limited. Any help much appreciated!

That’s one of Argo’s Chinese ones so there’s no info on it but, from what you describe it does sound like a compressor issue. It overheating and cutting out, restarting when it cools off and if that’s the case it won’t be worth sorting.

Yeah I’d a feeling that was the case. I’ve ordered a new freezer, will stay well away from Bush in the future!
Still miffed I barely got 2 years out of it when my trusty little table top freezer is sitting right beside it , still going strong after after 20 + years!
