ParticipantNeed advice on what repair guys are calling physically impossible. New oven tripping out different rcd circuit and it remains on cooking, or also cooling sets it off, whilst tripping the other rcd.. Oven does not cook properly unless at 200 then it cooks unevenly. Separate electrician checked fuse box and all fine. Earthing is fine on both fans on oven. Wiring fine tested by chap today. His boss coming tomorrow but he thinks it is impossible. I just need my oven to not trip stuff…any thoughts? Anything else they can check? Digital clock?

ParticipantIf it’s tripping the wrong RCD then it sounds like there is a problem with the neutral connections somewhere in the circuit. That is potentially dangerous and needs to be fixed.
Also, the fact that the oven only cooks at a high temp setting and unevenly suggests one element is not working – that may be causing the trip.

Moderatoryou still did not tell me which was the other circuit thats tripping.
i dont know if you have a split board with 2 rcd or RCBO on every circuit. to be able to work any problem i need to work out whats going onit is an odd fault i agree
also when you say you have to put the oven on a high setting to cook what happens if you set it at normal temps. does the stat light go out ?
is oven a fan oven or convection ?

ParticipantSorry for late reply. Split board. We have an rcd protecting the left hand circuits. No rcd on right which is where oven is. It is on it’s own circuit.. Electrician checked all the neutral lines and say all wired correctly. Chief Oven guy came today but also confused. Seems to be when cooling fan goes off whilst cooking (as opposed to going on), and when oven cooling after use and cooling fan just stops it also turns the rcd off. He is also very confused but is going to replace the thermostat safety cutout…still does not explain the rcd problem.. It is a fan oven.

ParticipantNormal temperature it just doesn’t seem to cook as fast as it should. Normal stuff that would take half an hour takes 50 mins if on 180. Uneven cooking if turned up too 200 then plus of course rcd trips.
