ParticipantHi there, I have a Bush TDT17CN condensing dryer which is tripping the electric as soon as the electrical socket is turned on (the machine is in the off position). Its little more than a year old so out of warranty :(.
The fuse in the plug has been tested and replaced, with no success is stopping it tripping.
The filters are clean and the water tank empty.
Can anyone suggest what is up with it or anything that could be checked/tested/replaced to stop it tripping please?
Many thanks

Moderatorwell first off plug out
take off the lid
find the mains suppressor.you will see where the wires connect from the plug so disconnect all the others
then plug in and see if it trips. if yes its the supressor if no we will have to dig deeper

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks so much for the swift response.
Opened it up, took the two outer wires off the suppressor (not the ones connected to the main plug). Left the two inner connectors on.
Plugged the dryer back into the socket.
It did not trip.
I guess that means its not the suppressor?
Thanks again for your help!

Moderatorok thats a start
now take the rear cover off and look at the element
look first for water as if its damp it will trip
if ok then look for element damage or anything touching the element. ( would not be the first time i have found a bra wire welded to the elements )

ParticipantHi Dave,
Took the rear cover off, as I did an amount of water poured out.
Took a look at the element. Nothing touching it or anything that I would think was obstructing. Wires all look ok and are connected securely.
Put a meter across the element from one end to the other no breaks.
Oddly though while the back was off and I’d checked the element I plugged the dryer in and it didn’t trip and powered up. So I’m not sure if its fixed?
Do you think it could have been the water inside, though I doubt it was enough to reach the element etc?
Thanks for your help.

ParticipantScratch that, placed the element back in place, screwed it in. Put the plug in and it tripped again before turning the dryer on.

ParticipantWell, if water poured out when you took the rear cover off that water would`ve gone over the element, air gets blown up over the element and if water was there so would it. Get a hair dryer and dry the element thoughtly and then bung it back together, make sure the suppessor wires have been refitted then try the machine. The pull out the condenser and clean it. Then try to dry a proper load to make sure the pump is puming into the water container. And check the filter is clean.
Any spares you want try this site as it was the only one I came across that do them, expensive but available: https://fixpart.co.uk/tumble-dryer-spare-parts/bush/tdt17cn-5701042540-10810794?page=7September 24, 2024 at 8:20 pm #491358andyjawa
ParticipantJust want to add: I presume it is a pull out condenser? So tread careful there as the information is scarce as with most if not all Bush. Have a look at the instruction booklet and see if it mentions it. It might be a copy of one of the Bosch contraptions that has a condenser but it does not pull out, you have to hoover it out the best you can do.
