They never do though Andy. It’s only after you tell them you called and fixed it that the agro can occur. Tight ar$ed landlord seeks perfect get out of paying trick. I’ve been there on many such occasions, more so with letting agents must admit but it leaves a nasty taste all the same. 🙁

Why is this thread in Trade Technical anyway? What’s technical about it?

I’ve been there too Martin and it’s a right pain in the ar##. Most of my work is for letting agents and I’ve made it clear to them that they call me and they pay whatever the fault. Got caught out in the past so I now insist they know the score

I have been there as we’ll hence my little outburst. A landlord with quite a few cheap machines and looking for a cheap way out or any reason not to pay usually equals disaster from my experiences with landlords.
Sorry Keith, yes I know that is a lot of money a month to sniff your nose up at, and you would be a fool to turn away good paying work, I was not saying you should turn down the work.
I was trying to say that the landlord set his stall out early with his intentions by buying such crap, so he never really as any intentions on investing to heavily in them, otherwise he would of brought something with some quality to it and I am afraid I don’t put hot point in that category. These machines are a pile of rubbish that are going to get over worked and abused due to them not being the tenants, so recalls or what the landlord calls recalls are going to be sky high! And he will not be wanting to pay for your return visits if you managed to get your money out of him in the first place that is.
Then I just snowballed in my own little rant. Lol
Think you can tell a landlord and cheap machines wind me up.Phil

Well if you read the first post it was of a technical nature, it has now gone :offtopic: In fact it was your good self that caused it to veer of course. 😉

I have no idea why anyone would not have a card facility nowadays! Landlord / Tenant jobs = Card payment for the callout at the point of booking… Simple :rolls:
PayPal Here is a must to look at for a quick set up – Free App for iPad etc, start taking card payments in seconds! There is also a chip n pin device you can buy for the field too… The beauty about PayPal is that as soon as the amount has been taken, it’s available for withdrawal via your PayPal Account so in theory, payment over the phone and available in your bank account within 10 Mins. Problem sorted!

its not me thats working for the landlord. because argos is the only pick up and take away retailer in my rural area, a lot of my private customers have them. they didnt know any better and thankfully nobody complains when i give them the bill for whatever the fault was.
when i do landlord work they have to book the call by email and agree that they are paying the bill. otherwise i dont go. -
