ParticipantHi,
We are moving into a new house and need to buy a Cooker. We are looking for duel fuel as it was recommended for baking at even temperature.
We are a short family of 3, and I use mostly the gas hob with occasional baking or grilling in the oven.
We went and did the standard research in Currys and John Lewis, and have never been so confused with the range of the cookers from
Hotpoint, Indesit, AEG, New World, SMEG, Belling, Kenwood, etc..We are at a lost to understand if it really is worth spending the 800~1000 pounds or would a 400pounds cooker suffice?
We are looking for atleast 5-8 yrs worth of investment, and would be looking into extending the warranty for whichever brand we buy since the standard seems to be one or two yrs only.
Do you have any recommendations on what would be good?
One thing I would like is easy clean hob and oven if possible.
Thanks in advance,

Hi
My choice would be the Zanussi ZCK68300W now discontinued but still some around. It’s a good all round cooker sitting at mid budget with nice easy access controls.
Second choice would be the Cannon range.
HTH 🙂

Thanks Don.
Zanussi is only available online so we cannot go for a careplan unless we buy it separately.
and Cannon duel fuel looks like out of stock everywhere.
Do you think Gas only cookers are just as good? and would you have any different recommendation if we go for Gas only?
I have not used Gas oven before, so have very little information on them
Thanks,

Hi
There is good and not so good on both fuel types, mostly it’s what consumers have been used to.
A good read here on one versus the other.
If you are looking at all gas then I would still go for Zanussi or Cannon.

Thanks Don.
I think we will go for Zanussi. I am still a bit undecided on Gas or Dual. From the installation point of view, and is easy to fix a dual cooker where only Gas cookers have been installed previously? What should I look for to check to ensure that dual might fit?
Also, out of curiosity, a few friends have recommended me Belling quoting that they are British made and very good brand. Do you have any thoughts on their cookers?
Thanks again for all the help.

You will need a 30A electric supply for a dual fuel for the ovens.

I hope this is not needed in time for Christmas :eeek:
