ParticipantHello – and sorry for re-posting this question, just realised I’ve put it in the wrong forum the first time around.
We’ve just moved into a new place and unfortunately will have to buy our own fridge freezer. I’ve read the review on this website but that seems to be from some time ago.
Would anyone be able to recommend an American style fridge freezer model/range to get/avoid in the lower end of the market?
My wife’s always found normal UK style fridges too small… so this would be a nice surprise for her 🙂 – doesn’t need an integrated water/ice thingy, we eat a lot of fresh veg and freeze stuff for when we can’t be bothered to cook, no wine bottles, frost free preferred.
I know you get what you pay for but I can’t really stretch our budget much higher than £800 so would be grateful for some advice, instead of making an expensive mistake.
Many thanks

Under £800 and you’re talking bottom rung budget stuff full of LG, Samsung and Beko. Hard to choose between, all much of a muchness, all perform equally so down to personal choice. One tip: Don’t read too much into buyer reviews instead read through forums like this and see how many folks are in need of help with their faulty LG’s, Samsung’s and Beko’s.

Daewoo are worth considering Siemans American style are made by Daewoo but cost 4 times as much.
Daewoo spares are reasonable.
Beko are the cheapest for spares and more basic on there electronics.
So I would say Daewoo or Beko.

Thanks for the responses, will look at the Daewoo and Beko, do you think we would be better off going for 2 tall units, one a fridge, the second a freezer for this budget?

Yes you will get less problems with separate appliances.
You then have 2 Compressors 1 on each appliance so the wear and and problems are halved.
