ParticipantJust moved into our new house yesterday
The kitchen space is quite limited and I’m trying to get a fridge freezer to fit. The width is currently about 53cm. I’ve had a look at a few 50cm width fridge freezers, and the quality seems to be at best cr*p (Servis etc). What would you guys recommend? I’d rather pay a bit more now and get something decent quality than pay later. :rolls:
The other option is to shave a bit off the edge of the work tops and shoe-horn in a 54cm version. It looks just about do-able, and there seems to be quite a bit more choice at this width, but I am concerned that it will be pretty wedged in, and this may be a problem for ventilation, door opening… ❓
I don’t think height will be a problem: it can be up to 172cm high, but I’d like to us as much of that as possible.
Your advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Have a look at one of these Zanussi ZRB2530W 😉

Hi
If you can get the width up to 54cm, you can get the Hotpoint RFA52P or the Gorenje RK4256 which comes in silver or white. Both will give you more storage and both come in under £300.

Thanks Martin and Don, I like the look of the Gorenje (especially the 5yr warantee 🙂 ). I also saw a 50cm LEC. Anyone got any experience of this?
I think it is probably worth me trying to fit a 54cm width. I’ll have a closer look tonight, but I’m still a bit hesitant to take a disc saw to my kitchen units as the first peice of DIY in my new house! I think my girlfriend may kill me…

Hi gm
The Lec is a little more basic and not as well made as the Zanussi in Martins post 😉

Well, I hacked the kitchen units back this weekend. Going for a 54cm fridge, but…
We went and looked at a few over the weekend, and had a look at the Bosch KGV28V01. Now this is supposed to be 55cm wide, but I measured it with a tape measure, and (at least the one in store) was only 54.2 cm. This would fit (with a couple of mm to spare now).
Do you guys think this is likely to be a one-off, ie I cant gaurantee if I bought one it would be the same as the one in store, or do Bosch mis-lable and “round up” for any reason?
The other half really didn’t like the hotpoint – it really makes poor use of the space in the freezer compartment, and I haven’t found a local Gorenje distributer.
Thanks for your advice so far Martin & don. 😀

Hi
If you have measured the actual appliance and it reads 54.2cm then that is what you will get 😉 however the catalogue and the website says it`s a 55cm wide machine 😕 . Bosch have a product advice line on 08702 400060, a phone call may be the answer.
