ParticipantI am looking to buy a washing machine which I have never done in my life yet. I know quality is paramount particularly for a washing machine due to all the moving parts and the intensity of a wash. So, after a lot of research I decided to narrow it to two brands – Bosch (or Siemens) and Miele. I have read many times that Miele is considered the best in terms of quality with washing machines, and I have owned and used various appliances from both Bosch and Miele. Miele has always performed great but for Bosch, it really depends on the model. Some of my experience with Bosch has just been so-so and not as refined as Miele.
The Miele model WCR 860 WPS is more expensive than the Bosch by around £585 but they both do similar things. The Bosch has been very well rated (apart from one incident of water from a previous wash of dark clothing staining a white wash that followed) and so has the Miele. I really am a believer in not buying throwaway white goods but I’m not sure if the Miele is worth the extra ££ for my needs. We are 1-2 people in the house, no kids. Not loads of laundry is done but I tend to do one load a week or sometimes 5 loads a week if I am doing bedding (so like the 9-10 kg capacity). I am looking for the machine to last quite a long time and will hopefully add a dryer once I move to a flat/house with more space.
I am just a bit clueless with all this and since I have not personally used either, it is so hard to decide. Anything thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Moderatormiele will always win in my book but not a fan of the auto dosing systems its just something else to block and go wrong. cant fault a 10 year guarentee parts and labour
Bosch warranty only 2 yearsbear in mind if it went wrong too often in the 10 years they would soon go out of business so to guarentee that long it has to be reliable

I actually live in Switzerland and Miele machines only seem to have 2-year guarantees here. I have no idea why but I should ask. I lived in the UK for a long time before moving here somewhat recently so I keep going back to the UK for advice. 🙂 But if the machines regularly broke down, they would not have the reputation they do.
