Until this week we had a 20-year-old Neff S5433X0GB/29 – I’ve tried with it but, the main motor has apparently seized, the baskets are rusting, some seals are leaking and I’m sure other things will go wrong with it even if I shell out for motor/impellow etc. Anyway – 20 years seems quite an above-average innings for what was actually a low-end model originally.

Having read experiences and thoughts elsewhere on these forums, we probably won’t be getting a new Bosch/Neff/Siemens, sounds far too risky. I’m looking at a new Smeg dishwasher right now, model DI211DS seems to fit the budget. I can get this at £499 from Marks Electrical, possibly delivered tomorrow, and domestic harmony will return. https://markselectrical.co.uk/DI211DS_Smeg-Built-In-Fully-Integrated-Dishwasher.html

But – the FUD has set in – this price seems good but what’s confusing me is the model seems listed as “DIA211DS” in other places and even on Marks Electrical’s own site, with no discernable difference other than £79 higher price tag. Currys lists a DID211DS. The confusopoly has struck again and I’m just being all FUDed out. These other numbers aren’t even listed on Smeg’s own site. I couldn’t find a Smeg support website to try to compare them on, and without any serial number that seems unlikely anyway.

Can you help un-stick me? Thanks!

I would go with the DI211DS as it is on the Smeg web site. As you say there is no discernable difference for the extra £80 odd pound. It could be that the DIA is being produced as a marketing aid for the big boys , ie if you can find this model cheaper elsewhere then………. chances are you won’t as it is only going to be the big players having it.

Thanks Don – confirmed my suspicion – ordered it, fingers crossed that we’re lucky & it lasts another 20 years 😉

fingers crossed that we’re lucky & it lasts another 20 years 😉 I`d get the whole family to do the same too as that might be a trite optimistic
