ParticipantI’d like to bypass the Danfoss 077B0887 thermostat in my fridge. I have a digital thermostat unit that runs on its own power, and has two 240v terminals that are switched off a relay.
Currently I have the digital stat wired up in an external box with a 240v socket on the relay that the fridge plugs into. I’d like to integrate it into the fridge better so that the defrost timer etc runs properly.
I guess I just connect up the brown and red wires together to either run it permanently, or wire them into the relay terminal on the new digital thermostat.
The thing that has me stumped is that in addition to the thick capillary wire coming out the top of the thermostat, there is also a thinner white wire that comes off the bottom of it, snakes its way across the back of the panel then exits via the multi-pin connector to somewhere else is the fridge. I can’t figure out what this is for. Does anyone know? The fridge is Westinghouse BJ414.
I had hoped that with the digital thermostat I could set the temp of the fridge at what ever I wanted and the freezer section would take care of itself.
I thought that in fan-forced models the fridge thermostat caused the fan to turn on and off, blowing cold air up from the freezer when required and the compressor runs independently to ensure the freezer was always cold. Is that correct?
So if I want to maintain a higher fridge temperature of say, 10*C could I assume that the freezer would stay as normal? I’m using this for brewing beers in so I need to run it at odd temperatures such as 2*C, 10*C and 18*C depending upon what part of the brewing process is going on.

The white wire will probably be a heater to assist defrost.

S.Thanks. That’s the back of the control panel, so do you mean to defrost that and stop the controls from icing up?
