hi all im after a bit of advise as been asked to call here as failed a pat test as low earth continuity,i spoke to the sparky and between earth pin and hinge no continuity. ive pulled appliance out and the chassis where comp stands and hinges etc have no earth attached and never have so it looks like it is manufactured like this. id have thought all exposed surfaces should be bonded?

there is an earth in the loom plugging in to the multi plug running inside the appliance but there is nothing to receive the earth so it stops at the multi plug.

    any advice cheers

Just wondering if it came with UK moulded 3pin plug or was an import with 2 pin Euro style plug which someone changed, these are made in Turkey for many markets, may be manufactured to a different standard in Europe/ Asia but if it was made to British Standard exposed metals should be earthed?

From the spec’ sheet of this model…

12.4. Every refrigerator subjected to electrical safety tests.
    A) High potential test at 1250 V.
    B) Earth continuity test at 10 Amp.
    C) Leakage current test at 1.06 Vn (244 V.)

Conforms to these standards… (think EN ones are British Standard)
    1.4. Standarts Conformed : TS 7596,TS 2000,TS 2225,EN ISO5155,EN 60 335-1,EN 60 335-24

hi thats what i thought but doubtful as was done by a kitchen company on a student refurb, im sure it had a moulded plug on, im going back to see if i can piggy back an earth from compressor electrics and screw to the compressor mounting plate/chassis which should then bond the whole chassis.
