c00144134/C00262267 – Door seal fitting problems

Hi,

I wonder if someone could help?

I have tried to fit this seal to 2 different machines and both machines it did not fit correctly causing the seal to rub on the drum. (fully fitted with the spring band on))

First machine:
WMD 940 P (UK).R// Serial 002166096//30646400000
Second machine:

WML 560 P (UK).R//Serial 007088575//30646210001

I have been assured that it’s the correct part no for both machines. It’s in a bag that has a Genuine Hoptpoint C0011416 sticker, then a MP sticker with C00262267. Now I’ve been assured by a number of sources that the C0011416/C00262267 is the correct seal.

I’ve seen various posts regarding seals for (UK).R machines which I understand are made in China???? Is that correct?

The first customer wasn’t too bothered and told me not to bother so I fixed her oven as well and left it at that. However, the last customer definately wants a new seal. ASAP

I’ve got a picture which I’ll try an upload later that shows the lip on the new one is just a tiny bit thicker than the original. Now either I’ve got a duff seal (??) or has anyone else had a problem with this part no. Suggestions…

R coded machines are Polish. Correct seal is a C00262267. C0011416 comes up as ‘Invalid part No:’.

That commercial code is for some R coded models and some RA also Polish.

Only suggestion I can think of is to order a C00262267 direct from Hotpoint and see what that is like.

After much valued and helpful communication with MP and Hotpoint. I was told by Hotpoint, it’s a build up of gunge behind the support pushing the drum forward and that it was caused by using liquid detergent. Not convinced by that argument. I purchased another seal from a different supplier so it didn’t have the same batch as the last one. It went on easier but did take a lot more than usual adjusting to get it to fit. Fastforward a couple of days. Call back from customer. Went out again, the drum catches the seal on full spin. Not a lot and only on some loads. Took seal off and noticed witness marks (rubbing in one place). On further inspection, the plastic tub has, obviously over time become very slightly oval – not completely round. Where as the drum has maintained it’s round shape.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that the old and new seal are different.

From the picture it’s very obvious that the lip on the new one is thicker and also has ridges that the older one does not.

I have had same problem according to hotpoint you have to put it on a 90deg which will soften the seal i tried 4 seals before i got one work, i did have one that damaged the drum on one machine so beware test on spin from start to finish .

Thanks HotDog. I thought it was just me. At least the advice you were given was more realistic than that given to me. It doesn’t get away from the fact that it’s not the same seal that was originally fitted. !!!

I fit loads of these seals a year, never have problems. Yes the new seal is larger and it requires At least 1 90 wash before use. I recommend another 2 or 3 over a week period also make sure there is some detergent in with the wash.

The inner drum will cut a grove into the seal when its on spin with a load in and after a few washes it will settle down. I always warn the customer they could get a burning smell after the first few washes but it will settle down

So do i and and no problem since but i would not risk leaving one to bed in as you suggest i did it once and it wrecked the drum but thats your choice
