After the pulley on my mums washing machine came loose, I replaced the belt as a precaution and tightened the bolt using grips.

Can anyone tell me the size of the pulley bolt so I can retighten properly with spanner or socket as the belt is off again after three months.

Should I be using nut lock or similar?

    Thanks in advance.

PS: I’m not being lazy, just want to avoid a long trip just to measure bolt size.

    Thanks

TBH anyone attempting to do repairs should have a decent set of tools to start with, covering most of the common spanner, socket sizes. Basic socket sets are cheap as chips at B&Q etc.

Off the top of my head I could not tell you what size of bolt was used in the vast majority of machines without looking at it or trying the tools at my disposal.

You should use nutlock on the threads but in some cases even that is not enough to stop the bolt from coming loose again .

I have a socket set and a set of spanners. From memory, none of them were the right size.

    Thanks for your input.

Is it the model with the hex bolt or the one with the torx bolt? There are two dependent on model
