Can a dishwasher be left unused for long periods

I am furnishing a holiday home and plan to instal a dishwasher which is only going to be used for parts of the year ie the summer. The rest of the time it will be left unused. I have been told that not using a dishwasher regularly is likely to cause it to seize up – is this correct?

Certainly on older makes and models they were indeed prone to seizing up through lack of use. Younger machines are less likely to suffer this but sadly there is no hard and fast rules and taking ‘pot luck’ the only way to go I’m afraid. 🙁

indeed….they are a bit like cars, once there is some wear and tear then they don’t like standing for weeks months without being used 🙁

Have had a few D/W’s in holiday lets recently that have leaked very badly through lack of use.
