Can anyone help me with my Belling dishwasher?

Hello, I am new to the forum. I have moved into a house with a fitted Belling IDW604 dishwasher. It worked three times then stopped. I could no longer select a program. After searching the internet, the advice was the door latch was probably stuck.
I pulled the latch back into position and the program selector worked again and the door shut properly.
I thought I had solved the problem! But unfortunately not, the machine did not start to work and instead just beeped about every 30 seconds repeatedly… I have searched the net again but as the machine shows no error codes, I am at a loss. Thank you for any advice you can give me. 🙂

do the beeps come in any order, for instance are there perhaps 3 beeps, 4 beeps then a pause, the number of beeps normally give an indication to error

Hello Seamy, after setting the program and closing the door, the first beep is after 53 seconds, it is just one beep, then it repeats this one beep every 53 seconds after this. I timed it for over 5 minutes. Then I switched it off. I hope this information is of some help. 🙂 Thank you

Hi thank you for reading this. I watched a video on changing the door catch. So I unscrewed the door of the machine just enough to see the door catch (as in the video there were a lot less wires/pipes etc in the machine than in mine!).

I can see that the bit that the metal loop fits into is facing the wrong way (towards the front of the machine instead of towards the inside of the machine).

So my question is should I remove the catch try to mend it or buy a new catch, if so where do you recommend? Also I am an absolute novice and the sight of the insides worried me a little. Is there anything I should or shouldn’t do? Thank you so much for your help 🙂

Hi Georgina.
Perhaps if the inside of it scares you & you are neither confident or perhaps competent to do a repair, you would be best advised to call a repair engineer?

I have solved the problem, I bought a new door catch and I fitted it. My dishwasher works again! 🙂 Thank you all. Georgianna
