Firstly, this probably isn’t the proper place to ask but I figured that one of the moderators here could probably answer this.

I’m looking for a new (condenser) dryer and have narrowed my search down to 3 makes; Zanussi, Miele and ISE. Obviously I can source Zanussi and Miele from all the usual places but how do I go about getting the ISE in Northern Ireland? And, if I can order it online and have it delivered, what happens if it needs repaired within the guarentee period (not that that will ever happen )?

    Thanks,
    Andy.

    Hi Andy,

NI is a bit of a nightmare in all honesty. 😕

There is only one dealer there, round about Belfast if memory serves and he keeps little stock. I know he hasn’t a dryer there.

Shipping charges for anything that doesn’t go Royal Mail are just horrific and that’s part of the problem, but only a part of it. I cannot understand why it’s so expensive, it just is.

I also know a lot of people get spanked up on postage to NI as I have friends and relatives there but we don’t do that, we charge what it costs only outside normal delivery. And, if it goes Royal Mail it’s at the same cost as any other UK postal address. 😉

If you really want an ISE machine it should be doable but I’ve no idea what the cost would be to ship one over so I’d have to look into it for you.

    Hi K,

I know this is an old thread, but what was the conclusion to this? We are currently in the market for a new washer and would prefer to spend a bit extra for something long lasting, preferably with a 10 yr warranty.

I’ve read that miele’s 10 yr warranty excludes NI, what the *****??? If that’s true they won’t be getting any of my cash :rolls: .

    So what about ISE? 😉

    Thanks
    Gav.

Currently I’m afraid that ISE isn’t available in NI or Eire I’m afraid. Sorry. 🙁

    Hi K

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Don’t want to labour the point but just wondering what the problem is?
If shipping was say £100 rather than the £50 quoted on the website wouldn’t that be acceptable for a properly built machine with a 10 year warranty?
Or is the problem with maintenance? Can’t that be delegated to local repairmen?

Miele have also effectively ruled themselves out of my deliberations as their 10 year warranty doesn’t apply here and their out of warranty repair charges are reported to be horrific.

So with the two top quality brands ruled out I am at a loss as to how I can buy a quality washing machine :rolls:
    It’s all rather frustrating.

Would you care to suggest what brand might be in 3rd place? 😕 Siemens perhaps?

    All the best 🙂

Re: Can I get an ISE10 dryer in Northern Ireland?

    Hi Gav,

There are a number of problems, all logistical with NI and Eire. It’s the same thing with remote areas of the UK in some cases and anything that involves a ferry or in some cases even a bridge.

The carrier charges can be, to say the least, horrific to NI with a single machine costing way over £100 to get there. It also takes time, it can take a week just to get a shipping date let alone actually get there.

Then there’s a lack of repair cover on top as it’s never been chased in NI/Eire.

All these things make it hard and amplify any issues that may come up so rather than offer a sub-standard service it’s better to say no.

As an option then yes, probably Siemens is your best bet although I would say not in the league of either of your first choices sadly.

Yea I’m all too aware of crazy shipping charges for anything that can’t come Royal Mail 🙁
A pallet from mainland to here costs about £100 as I’ve had a couple delivered in the not too distant past.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to this old thread 😉
