ParticipantI have relatively sucessfully sourced (but not yet bought) a half reputable (bosch, aeg etc) dishwasher, fridge freezer and small freezer for around £1k.
I am struggling to find a well priced integrated washing machine (by well priced I am thinking around the £500-£600 max)
Integrated are obvious significantly more expensive than non integrated but the girlfriend insists that the white goods are hidden, and I’m keen on hiding them as well (going for a clean look in the kitchen).
I was thinking…..is it possible to integrate a non integrated appliance? I was measuring up yesterday and the doors I am ordering are 600mm wide – which at present seems wide enough to cover my current non-integrated machine.
I know I will be tight depth wise and am not sure where I would put the hinges etc.
Was thinking that I could then splash out on one of these ISE machines.
Have any of you fitters ever done this? Is it possible?

Few of us are actually involved in ‘fitting’ the kitchens but we do see large numbers of free standing appliances of all types that are hidden behind doors.
These are generally much easy to access for repair than fully integrated appliances.
Just make sure the plumbing and electrics are long enough to allow the machine to be pulled out to allow access from all sides without having to disconnect them. Its a good idea to use the ‘clip on/off’ type of hinges, it makes getting the doors off a doddle.

HiNeff W5420X0GB with a two year warranty comes in on budget as does the Gorenje WI63113 also with a two year warranty. Neff would be my choice 😉

Thanks for the replies.
I reckon I will wait for my fitter to arrive and see if he thinks he can hide a non-integrated appliance – intersting that it does not seen like crazy talk.
Failing that I will probably blindly follow your sugestion of the Neff.
By choice I would have a higher spin one as we don’t have a drier.
Would definatly buy the ISE5 1600rpm one if I could get it in there.

Hi
This thread of a little while ago may help you and your fitter decide whether to go for an integrated or an ISE

Good thread thanks for pointing it out – I have pm’d the original poster to see how he did.
It would be be great if I could get an ISE and still hide it, problem is I won’t know unless I buy one and try it!

Any free-standing machine (including the ISE) can be fitted behind cupboard doors BUT only if you have a clear depth available of at least 68cms!!

68cm?!!
Standard worktops are only 60cm – do they really stick out by 8cm?
From the previous mentioned thread….
“Have not found the ISE 10 Manual, but have found the ASKO W6222 one.
Page 31 details a built in installation and suggests a minimum gap of 622mm between the units, as well as a depth of 635mm (I still need to check on the depth I have, but it is a standard UK worktop).”

Precisely! That’s why 60cm free-standing appliances cannot be placed behind cupboard doors in this way. The only solution is by having kitchen furniture installed under 70cm worktops.
Italian marble – very nice. 😀
