I had a 50 pence piece in an ‘Ocean’ washer before. It had jammed sideways between the inner drum and outer tub, and it cut the metal outer tub clean in half like a tin-opener. It was spectacular!! Even more amazing, the customer paid for a new outer tub. I which I’d took a photo of it, but twas a long time ago.

£4.20 and a collar stiffner from an Ariston, Ironic really, probably more than the machine was worth. Mrs Dimbrain said, “I don’t understand it, I always check the pockets”. How do they ever manage to find their way home?

Goatboys post re: the ‘rubber item’ reminded me of a similar incident that happened to me. This particular piece of rubber which i removed from a pump had presumably been used. (it was’nt in a packet!). I must have had my wicked head on that day 😈 because i held it by the rim with my ratnosed pliers and let it dangle full length in all its glory, in front of the young lady who owned the machine. 😳

Well she did ask me what had caused the problem and I could’nt tell a lie now could I ❓ 😈

You should try extracting objects in Asian households…… The family tend to gather round to watch the show, so “Balti” will produce a bowl and off we go. I am very careful to drain the machine then drop foreign object into said balti or bowl, and shove it towards the assembled group. If they all start giggling, that’s fine and we have the chat about what should and should not be put into washing machines. If it all goes quiet, I just put it back together and collect the money with a very straight face and leave.

Called to Hotpoint 95 series owned by a gamekeeper to change bearings. After removing inner drum found 6 live .22 rounds under heater element, futher 10 removed from sump hose! More alarming was the small round hole in the back of the tub and corrisponding hole in rear back panel! Dont know if these two things were connected but customer had not heard any explosions!

    Re: Can you beat this?

As i reached over an appliance I split my trousers, possibly due to weak cotton 😛 , however whilst I sat in the front room reading the paper my customer repaired my trousers on her sowing machine, fair swop, one washer for a stich in time……
