    Hi.

    AEG ARCTIS
    Model 1194-GA7
    Prod No- 922726760
    Serial No-34500009

The audible under temp alarm has been going off and ice forming on the base of the freezer

On Taking the inner cover off that shrouds fan/evaporator I noticed the following

Bottom half of fins iced up the dished tray under the evaporator that contains drain hole fully frozen so water cannot run through drain hole to
    evaporate on compressor

I fully defrosted and figured out the s shaped coil running through the evaporator was some sort of defrost coil looking on this forum confirmed this.

I unplugged the plug from the socket an put an Avo across the 2 wires going to the coil read 397 Ohms …IS this ok?

There are 2 what I thought looked like disc stats but on reading this forum are probably thermistors

They are mounted side by side to top left of evaporator

switches(thermistors) have printed on them the following

    ELTH
    20T 80K KII Type
    261N 10c

    And

    ELTH
    20T 80K KII Type
    261N 40c

I did not know how to check these but they unplug as a unit and are easy to change

Having read the informative posts on this site I understand the basic principles of the frost free

The original problem arose I think by the door being left open .Since defrosting and powering back up the alarm is now silent and the freezer seems cold enough but the compressor does not switch off runs continually the fan inside function ok runs when door shut stops when door open

What do you think could be the cause I have not yet removed the cover to see if the fins are starting to freeze up again

Where would the defrost timer be on this model?
What other sensors are there and where are they located?
DO the 2 thermistors I have listed above just control the defrost cycle/

What controls the compressor on off cycle?

    Any advice will be appreciated

    Thanks

To be honest jizzer I’ve not seen one of these machines but it does sound like one of the sensors is goosed or the PCB. I’d assume it was an electronic control as opposed to a manual defrost timer in an AEG.

As for the readings, you’d have to speak to someone with experience on the cabinet as we don’t have that info I’m afraid. 😕

The two sensors you have identified probably do control the defrost cycle. The PCB will control the defrost cycle and the power to the compressor, as well as pretty much everything else.

    Hope that helps.

Yes it does say electronic control on the front of the machine and 3 cables run to the control unit?
I suppose the cheaper option would be to change the 2 thermistor/swith assy first?
