ParticipantI have been looking at property this afternoon & went along to view an apartment near to my current home. I was quite taken aback & thought it was a joke, to see in the kitchen part, that they have a Candy 3 in 1 Cooker.
Gas Hob on the top, oven in the middle, compact dishwasher (if you please) on the bottom. (all in one unit) – Surely that would be a nightmare to repair if it went wrong, not to mention a lethal combination of gas & electric together?Have any of you tech guys come across this product before?

It’s a Candy Trio.
The original version was introduced in the eighties and was a gas hob, small fan oven and a dishwasher below. Primarily aimed at small flats, holiday homes, OAP flats/units etc. was sold in the UK for a few years then vanished.
Recently it’s come back on sale again in the UK range.
Uses a lot of spares only available from Candy (expensive) but, on the whole, they weren’t actually that bad reliability wise IME. We still sell the odd bits and pieces for them on occasion.
Bit of a bugger to work on though with lots of sharp edges, I’ve seen a few. 😕
The reason for the water part (dishwasher) on the bottom is because water doesn’t flow up the way, so it’s no more dangerous than, say, a dishwasher.
Hope that helps.

Bless you Kwatt for your reply. I liked the apartment, not sure about this 3 in 1 thing. The idea seems a bit weird to me, there again I like my things to be simple and separate. Maybe am just an old fuddy?

They’re not that bad WQ in all honesty. You’re right, they do seem bit of a weird idea when you see it at first but for “granny flats” etc. they’re pretty good and not a bad idea. And, as I said, we never had that much trouble from them and the fact that some still live today is a testament to them really.
Used to be quite common to see that and an Aquamatic, the mini Candy washing machine, in the same house.
How good the new ones are I honestly can’t say as I’ve not seen one yet.
The only thing I’d say is that, if it’s been in there a while, it’s a fair age I should think.

ParticipantScrewfix are selling these so they might become a bit more popular….. but hopefully not.
