Candy A8001. Door spring gone.

My Candy A8001 [32074502_9844_0495] is 10 years old.
There was a ‘twang’ [spring or band?] and I now feel the full weight of the door when opening.
Can someone advise what part I may need?
And some pointers on how to fit the part would be appreciated.

One of you guys must be able to help me with this one.
It’s been a couple of weeks now. Thus I’m getting it in the neck from the ‘boss’.

It’s really quite heavy when opening.
There’s no balance weight / spring when the door opens.

There appear to be at least three different spring/hinge/brake set-ups for this machine. I can only suggest that you drag it out, remove the side panels and post up a piccie for us to have a look at. One of what’s broken and one of the intact other side would be particularly helpful.

It’s taken a rainy Sunday, but I’ve finally dragged the dishwasher out.

Behind the LH panel the spring and ‘brake band’ are intact (see photo).

Behind the RH panel the spring is broken (see photo’s). It is approx 6″ long by 5/8″ dia. It looks bigger and stronger than that on the LHS.

Is there a part number and link to where I can buy a replacement spring?
