Hi, wonder if anyone can spare me 5 mins of their time. I have a 13 yr old Candy Aquaviva 1000 machine. The bearings have just gone. I have stripped the machine as much as I can, got the motor off. Just the drum housing left in the machine.

    (1) Do I need to remove the drum outer housing out of the chassis?

    (2) Is it a sealed type drum or once I undo the pulley bolt at the back at will magically open up (silly question I know) Never done one of these before! I can not see any bolts around the drum housing to undo, to split the two apart?

    (3) If the drum needs to come out, is it best to lie it on one side and slide out the drum housing, or do I have to get help and lift it out the top?

    (4) There are two heavy duty springs holding the drum housing at the top, there are two metal rods, diagnally going into holders underneath the drum. Will removing the springs at the top be enough to slide the outer drum off? [this is only if I need to remove the drum housing]

I would really appreciate a response soon. It has been out of action for a week now. Wife pushing me to buy a new one (can’t afford it), and a young family’s (3 kids) clothes piling up. 😥

    Appreciate any advice please.

The whole drum has to be lifted out of the cabinet. No special tools or instructions needed, just a darned awful job 🙁

Bin it is my advice! 😕
