Candy Aquaviva 800

Hi,

my aquaviva 800 (12 years old!) has had its first major problems this week. Basically it fails to spin; it does however, if I drain off the water by detaching the pipe and lowering to ground level into a bowl. Once the drum is empty I can get it to spin.

So I suspect the drain pump. This site says check the filter first and then the pump to look for blockages. But I can’t find the filter – where is this? All help gratefully received.

Your machine may not have a filter but you can trace the plumbing from where the drain hose enters the machine to the sump hose on the bottom of the tub. Between those points there will be a pump and possibly a filter. The pump is the first thing to check as it may be jammed with a coin, nail, rubber band etc. If it will drain by gravity it’s usually the pump, if it won’t drain by gravity it’s usually a blocked filter or hose. As usual, pull the plug before any investigations.
