ParticipantHello all,
I hope everyone is staying safe in these tough times.
I’m hoping to get some advice on my Candy C514 washing machine which has suddenly stopped working. It seems that no power getting to the appliance as none of the lights come on when the rotary selector is turned to any of the On positions.

I’ve done the following checks so far:- Verified that the wall socket works by plugging a known working appliance.
- Verified that the 13 A plug fuse is okay by swapping with another known working fuse.
- Disconnected and took out the main module to look for any signs of burning, etc. but didn’t notice anything.
I’ve done some research into potential faults suggesting that the main module might need replacing which, although costs considerably less than a new machine, is still a lot to pay for a guessing game.
I’m tempted to replace the suppressor, but merely because that’s the first point of current entry from the wall. I haven’t noticed anything prior that would suggest that the suppressor was misbehaving.
Some more information:
Two days ago I had the machine on its side to replace the worn shock absorbers.I would like to avoid going on a shopping spree, replacing any or all electronics so any advice is greatly appreciated.

ModeratorOnly way of determining if it’s the suppressor or main module is check if it has power to the module unless you are electrically competent this isn’t something I advise, my personal opinion it will be module kai

Moderatordoes sound more like a module fault as Kai says
you could look to see if the module can be repaired
there are 2 companies i can think of who may be able to help
1 QER in workington . their website seems to be up fpr sale, this may be an oversight or they may have gone. you could rind and find out
2 https://emwelec.co.uk dont list you module but yopu could ask

ParticipantMany thanks for the input, everyone.
I decided to purchase a used main control module from eBay to see if that would resolve the issue.
It has, for now. Only time will tell how long that will last.
I’m wondering where I can send the faulty module for repair. Any suggestions? Is there perhaps a DIY option?
Cheers.

Moderatorthe companies i posted earlier may help if they still trade
as for DIY possibly but you have to be able to solder and remove components from the boards

ParticipantMy own experience at sending away pcb`s for repair is very mixed to be honest. To be even more frank on modern circuit boards I think it is all a matter of pure luck as to the outcome. Personally I would not bother. Getting a working pcb off ebay is usually the right way to go from a professional machine dismantler company as usually a replacement pcb is equal to the cost of a ” repaired ” pcb + postage in anycase. QER calling it a day, if true is a shame, but it would not surprise me.

Moderatorhave not sent a board away for years. one of the last ones i did they sent me a different board than i sent them and then flatly refused to put it right saying they never made mistakes
the board above is probably the power supply chip and i do them myself with great sucess
