ParticipantCan you ps ps help me i am a Noob on these very helpful forums and i am desperate to get my DW back as my hands are getting too soft from Fairy Liquid 🙁
I have a CD474 which is aprox 4yrs old and has been very good, with the only fault being a heating element replacement 2yrs ago (pump was also replaced as it was partly broken accidently by engineer whilst inspecting the original fault). Last week it started sticking and no programs was finishing. At first i thought it was the element but it seems to be heating the water, so thats a No. Since pulling out DW and putting it on its back to have a look ive noticed a leak when i put it back on through a cycle, this was definitley not there before {not sure if it happens when its filling or emptying} If i turn off AC and pull out machine and tip it on its back, it drips down through the motor which is rather worrying as i am concerned of getting fried when power is returned! Is it a sealed motor? I hope to repair it myself with the help of you knowledgeable Guys but i am at a loss on where to start. I have looked through other simular posts and it seems the element is the cause 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time but mine is getting Hot! 😕 Also we’ve been very bad at not cleaning plates before loading, would this be a blockage thats causing the leaks via a stuck return valve? Or could this leak of happened just because i moved the DW from its original posistion? What would be my best way to detect whereabouts its leaking from?
Many Many Thanks & keep up the good work your saving us all a Fortune!. 😀
Ps if this is impraticle to repair would be a good cheap relacement? Ive noticed Candy CDF 622 going rather cheap- Good or Bad ps?August 14, 2007 at 2:36 pm #224682Martin

The main circulation pump motor is not repairable but has to be replaced as a complete unit costing around £90. If that is in fact the source of the leak then it is hardly economical getting it replaced to be honest. 🙁

Thanks Martin for your quick response!
You did read this only happened after i inspected DW by putting it on its back, it was not laking prior to this! But if it is the circ pump how could it started to leak when al i done was moved the machine out but did not fiddle with anything? The leak seems to be coming from back left of machine but cannot be specific of course as it only happens when power is on and its upright!
Ps note: When i had element replaced last time the engineer actually broke the pump and had to replace it because whilst diagonosing the the fault whilst taking apart pump it actually broke in his hands but it was replaced free via Ins. Thanks for the Tip on Bad candy! Any ideas on a good cheapo…or even a 2nd hand ebay job (max £250)
Thanks Martin 😀August 14, 2007 at 4:13 pm #224684wanabgeek

Hi Ive read a few reviews and it seems the best DW to buy at the £300-£400 range is the Bosch. Ive seen a few of the highly rated SGS46E08GB but it seems the SILVER model is now showing as discontinued! 😯 Can anyone ps tell me why this is, when the white model is still selling? 🙁 Hope its not a fault as there are still some selling but only a few! Thanks again
Ps if anybody can ps Recommend a Silver DW at the above price range i will be most gratefull! 😀
