Candy CD797 detergent dispenser not opening

Hello – my first post !

The problem with our machine is that the dispenser is not opening. Machine appears to function normally in other respects and I have tried a couple of different programmes with the same result. It is possible to open the dispenser manually.

Having read a few other posts (although nothing on Candy machines) it appears that I may need a new dispenser, although the good news is that we’re still within the 5 year parts guarantee. Presumably though if I want the part free I’ll have to use Candy’s authorised repairer?

Question is am I best off getting an engineer in to be sure that I do need this part or is it that certain this is the problem that I’d be better off DIY? How much is the part likely to cost?

Usually a dishwasher SD will run about £50+ plus VAT and carrige so in all honesty it’s probably best to have it done by GIAS Service. How long you’ll wait these days since the independents were bumped, that’s another matter altogether I’m afraid. 😕
