    Hi
I have a CDW254. It was leaking intermittently from the front door. I replaced both the rubber seals and for three weeks no leaks. Yesterday it started leaking again from the front door…….I really dont understand why it does this sometimes and not always, as I always run the same program. Having spent a fair bit on the hoses. A call out for an expert may not identify the problems as it does’nt always leak…. Any ideas?

It could be a problem with a spray arm. The door seals are designed to hold in a “splash” but not a full on deluge so if a spray arm is cracked, blocked and the jet held pointing at the door or suchlike you can get what you describe.

Thank you for responding. How can I tell if this is the case?

With great difficulty as you can’t see. 😉

Best bet is to make sure there’s no splits in the arm or the arm feeding it, that the spray arms turn freely and so on. Watch especially for things blocking the spray arms, that’s one that can cause intermittent leaking.

    Hi,
I am helping the original poster to sort out this machine.
First a question about the seals. The bottom seal has what could be described as an ear at each end. Does the main door seal just butt down onto these ears. The ears could conceivably lift up and lay against the door seal but I don’t think this would be correct.
Next, when the problem occurs there is a good flow of water from the left hand front corner. If the program is now stopped and the door is opened, then the tray in the bottom of the DW is virtually full of water, to the point that the lower rotor is sitting into the water. I do not think this is correct and we may be looking at a flooding issue rather than a seal problem.

    Feedback appreciated.

The water shouldn’t reach the spray arm no, but remember that when the machine runs that will drop as the water is circulated.

The seals are splash only, they don’t actually “seal” as such.

    Ok thanks.
I strongly suspect the level is the issue as the leak, when it happens, is a continuous run like a tap that has just been cracked open, and not like there are splashes hitting the door and getting out every now and then.

What controls the fill level ?

The pressure switch which should be in the base, somewhere. 😕

    Hi,

Finally got around to getting this unit out. I can see the pressure sensor screwed to the side in the base but notice there is also a pressure device which is an integral part of the inlet valve. What is this last device for ? Is it perhaps a sfatey cut out if the main pressure detector fails ??

    Thanks,
