ParticipantCandy Washing Machine Aquaviva CE101 (approx 1999) (Model AQUA CE 101 UK, N: 31123193 9944 4777).
The unit basically works, but the timer/programmer doesn’t advance at all – So it’s possible to do a wash (fill, spin, drain etc.) – but only if you manually advance the timer/programmer each step!
Therefore I have assumed the fault is the timer/programmer unit – is this a fair assumption? I’ve had a look at it and there’s no obvious loose wiring connections to it. The timer/programmer is marked Crouzet Type 900 914/3246.
Otherwise I guess the fault could be the PCB (I haven’t had a look at this yet).
Does anyone out there have experience of this kind of fault? – If so a little advice on whether to try replacing the timer/programmer or PCB would be appreaciated – Or a few tips on how to diagnose the fault further.
Many Thanks.

It sticks in every position on various wash cycles I have tried, and it doen’t seem to make any attempt to move on.

Serious question: If you set it on ‘spin only’ will it switch off then?

If it does spin for around 5 mins or so then switch off automatically, your Timer may be OK? But if it sticks forever on spin as well, then the Timer is at fault!

These timers can often be repaired, especially when that is the fault.

Thank you for your comments – they inspired me to look a bit furthur.
I measured the impedance across the wires to the small motor on the back of the timer – it read open circuit (>200k ohm).
I took the cover off the top of the timer so I could see inside, I then turned the machine on whilst measuring the volts across the small timer motor. I turned the timer knob until I got 240V across the timer motor -but there was no sign of movement from the small cogs at the back of the timer. So looks pretty much like the timer to me.

Timer p/no 91200529 – email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.
For future readers we do not recommend any sort of live testing – it is extemely dangerous.
