ParticipantFolks, I hope I am posting this in the appropriate manner, as I am new to this forum.
I have a Candy CN100 washer, which has developed a fault overnight.
The program selector dial normally moves round slowly as the unit performs a wash cycle. This morning I got up to find a small load of still wet washing in the drum. The selector was at the “spin” setting – normally the last point before end of cycle. The unit has drained the water off normally despite a small blockage in the filter. The drain pump was still running.
I have established that the drum is not turning in any mode, nor is the program selector dial advancing through any wash cycle. The power light on the front is lit up, and having removed the top and back plates, I can see no signs of anything wrong (no blackened wires, loose connections etc.I have basic mechanical skills and a decent multimeter – I’d appreciate if someone can talk me through how to troubleshoot this problem.
Regards,Ainslie

Look at the pressure sensor and the hose leading to it, check it isn’t blocked as it sounds as if the machine thinks it hasn’t drained properly.

K, cheers for the swift reply. What does the pressure sensor look like, and where would it be located on the unit?

normaly a circular looking device with a pipe coming from the tub attached to it , as the washer filles with water the air pressure in thwe pipe increases operating this device remember to unplug from mains first and reseal the pipe as you risk a flooding if you dont!!

ParticipantCandy CN 100 motor issues (was: program selector dial)
Update: Finally got a chance to look into this a bit more (was working away from home)
Pressure sensor appears to work – at least, I hear a clicking when I blow down the pipe, and a click when I release the pressure.
Also, the machine now spins. However, when I look in the opening at the back (panel removed) I can hear sparking and see white flashes from inside the motor, so I naturally aborted the testing right there and came to post for further advice. Do you reckon the motor is failing?Cheers

Final (hopefully) update:
Got the motor out, split the casing and removed and cleaned everything in sight. Reassembled and it is now working as expected.
Just one question – will cleaning up the motor be enough to keep it running for another few years, or should I look at replacing the motor brushes?Cheers,
Ainslie
