    Hello, everyone.

I’ve just been passed this website’s details by someone in a different site.

I have a Candy CNW156 washer-dryer which has today stopped heating up. The wash cycle and spin works fine, but it just doesn’t heat. Nor does it get hot when the dryer is on, though the drum still goes around etc.

I’ll be calling Candy on Monday I imagine, but wondered had anyone else had this issue, or know of any solutions? My machine is out of warranty sadly, so I may well end up having to buy a new machine…

    Thanks, in advance.

(P.S. I would do a search on this forum but do not seem to be able to do so. Maybe I am not fully registered etc. yet?)

There are several reasons for no heat on dryer cycle, most of which are not to expensive. You could have a look at Repairs@ to see if there is an independant engineer in your area, bound to be less expensive than Candy and more likely to get to you sooner.

I had a similar problem with a Hoover washer/dryer (rebadged Candy), the problem was identified by my friendly repair man (over the phone for no cost) as a problem with the thermostat on the dryer tube.

Over time fluff is collected in the metal airflow pipe at the top of the machine, this in turn raises the temperature and triggers the thermostat.

I was lucky in that all you had to do was press a button on top of the thermostat to reset it and of course clear the metal pipe of fluff etc, this is the hardest job but after the second or third time you get quite adept at it.
