Hi, I have just moved into my new home and already have a problem
with this 4 year old appliance as soon as I switched it on from the main switch.The Fridge is working very fine and temperature inside the fridge is as cool as it should be. However, the Freezer is not working at all. In fact, the panel is showing a red light and near this red light, there is also lit a green box, which I assume, is signalling to which compartment the red light is referring to (i.e. the freezer).
Then, I noticed that the freezer ‘knob’ (or button?) was pointing to ‘0’ zero. So, I thought the red light was on becuase the freezer was off. The worrying part is this …. as soon as I turned the knob/buttom from ‘0’ to ‘1’, all the lights from the panel went off! The fridge stopped working also! and the freezer fan or compressor was making an unbearable noise.
When I turned the freezer back to ‘0’/off , the red light went ON again, the fridge starting working normally again and the horrible freezer fan/compressor noise stopped.
I called the previous house owner and asked if he ever had this problem. He told me that he used the fridge BUT never the freezer in 4 years! because he had a separate larger freezer and never used the smaller Candy Freezer.
Could it be that the freezer is not working because of lack of use??
And if this is true, what should I do?Many thanks in advance for any help!
