    Hi,
Ive just busted something on the back of the fridge.
A simple monkey mimic wiring job, if I knew what the parts were called.
Basically, we have had our F/freezer under the stairs and its making stuff seriously damp. So I decided to move it into the kitchen at the expense of a worktop I put in a few years ago.
On pulling the fridge out, I discovered the cats had kindly hooked the cable over the water tap whilst trying to cover a POOH!
Too late! The folding chairs fell on the cable yanking it and snapping a plastic bit with loads of wires attached.
The good thing though, is that that was plugged into what looks like a relay type thing that clicks onto what looks like a 3 pin plug on the compressor tank? That part was seriously perished and has been getting hot, is brown and brittle.
What are these two parts called, where can I get them, roughly what would they cost. Is it worth doing?
Could this be the cause of the continual freezing and defrosting of the fridge (not freezer)?

Making stuff damp, not cat pee is it ? 😯
If there is damp around any surfaces ie the back or underneath, signs of condensation on the sides or top of the fridge freezer then its time for a new one,if it is working correctly it certainly isn’t the reason your cupboard is damp.
You have pulled of the relay/start device and it will also have he mains terminals on there. Not permitted to give re-wiring instructions so suggest you get a local engineer in to carry out the repair safely.

If its not something Im happy doing, I have a good pals John and Barney who is are electrical engineers who will exchange babysitting for repair!
    Still need the parts though.
It does have mains on it, obviously.
Its a nice warm fridge against an out side wall which is condensating as its boxed in on all sides.
I thought it was a relay, looks like one but cannot for the life of me, find them online. Nor the plastic brackets which all the wires amalgamate on.
(Cat is only poohed under there, luckily, and its on lino or it’d stink!)

    Right, guessing now…
It would be called a terminal as all the terminals join to it.
(My dads an electrician too, and I remember terminal joining blocks – and getting roasted for chewing them up)
    And a relay..
It seems there arent any specifically for my model, so will be a compatible one I guess.
