Hi everyone. This is my first post so bare with me.

Candy C4100 W, with old style mechanical timer.

So my aunts dishwasher stopped working a few years ago but she never got round to calling someone out to fix it. I decided to have a look. First check was obviously to see if it was plugged in, and then tried to turn it on. Nothing. Tried a lamp in the same socket and it works.
Witht the washer unplugged, next I tried checking the main switch and door mech, and door switch with a multimeter- continuity test. All good.

Then did a voltage test (washer plugged in) and checked the voltage at the ends of the wires that lead to the main switch. Normally would expect this to come to 230V right? It read 55V. Is it possible there is loose connection somewhere before the switch? Or damaged wires in the wiring harness (maybe mice chewing away- had mice at one point) causing a voltage drop? Could this have caused more damage elsewhere? Connections on some components are a bit black.

Any help would be amazing. Thanks.

Yes it is. Might be worth a try. Maybe possibly check the voltage where wires enter machine first?? Might save changing plug?
