    Hi All,

We have a candy dq130, not sure how old it is as it was left to us when the previous home owners moved out. However, it has been working fine for almost a year, and yesterday decided at the end of it’s cycle not to flush out the water, and not to spin.

My wife has tried playing with it, and has run another cycle, but it does the same thing again.

The slow spin works, but the full spin does not work at all, even if we try to run just a long spin, without a wash.

I’ve checked the filter, and it’s not blocked, and i’ve taken out the circuit board to check for obvious signs of burnt or dry joints, but no problems seem to be there.

Can anyone help with other suggestions of where to look?

    Many thanks,

    James.

If you drain the water out completely then set it to long spin, does it then spin. If you lower the grey plastic outlet pipe into a low bowl and the water flows out then you do not have a blockage, you may have a faulty pump or a wiring or control fault preventing the pump from running.

Power off at all times when you have your hands inside.

    iadom,

    Thanks for your reply.

I don’t think it’s a blockage, as if we use the short spin, it works fine. I.e. Do a full cycle, the long spin doesn’t trigger, so we do 3 short spins which work just enough to get the load done.

I’m pretty sure it’s the controller, or else I wouldn’t have expected the short spin to work.

Do you know where I can get one from? I’ve been looking on various “spares” websites, and I get pretty much anything for the machine, but not the controller!

    Thanks,

    James.

I agree with Iadom, it sounds like a partial blockage not allowing the water to clear quickly enough which may explain why the short spin works as not as much water is expelled 😉

To identify the module, I will need the full serial number starting 3…… please as there are a couple of versions.

    Iadon / Dave,

I really appreciate all of your advice. Will have a look again to see if any blockage is there – I am curious though as to how the machine knows that there is a blockage though.

When I say the full spin doesn’t work, I mean it doesn’t even click to try a full spin, it just does, well absolutely nothing!

I’ll have another look, and if needs be, contact you again regarding the part!

    Thanks again,

    James.

It is this part of your first post that points to a drain fault, have you tried it on long spin when it is completely empty of water, without any clothes in it. If your outlet pipe is connected to the sink waste then it could be a partial blockage there rather than inside the machine.

The water level switch that controls the amount of water going in also prevents the machine from spinning if there is still water in the drum.

    Re: Candy dq130 Washing Machine

    Guys,

Thanks for the help, and I am thankful to say that I have solved the problem.

I checked the pipes for blockage, nothing. When running the long spin again, nothing, but the slow spin still worked.

I asked my wife again, nothing else that you’ve set that is different is there? No, she said…

However, I noticed that the “Quick Iron” and “Quick Wash” buttons on the front of the machine were both pushed in. I turned the dial to long spin, turned these buttons, and hey presto off the little blighter went!

We ran a full cycle on it after that, and sure enough the long spin worked also.

I can only assume my little 2 year old was playing with buttons!

Thanks for all your help, hopefully this lesson may help others in the future!

    James.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome, its what I always call the ‘half term’ curse, the number of times I have had calls on Hotpoint machines with no spin, then found that the grandchildren had fiddled with the controls during the holidays is countless. 😀
