I found a couple of corroded tracks on the Remco 5039 board marked STAT3 and ROT1, due presumablyto damp in the bottom of the machine. I have repaired these and confirmed that they connect through as they should with an ohmmeter. I tried temporarily bridging the wires directly from pads on the circuit board to the back of the plug to bypass the connection. Nothing makes the machine spin! Could be the relays at fault, or something else? Motor seems fine, plenty of brush left, commutator shiny.
Ideally I’d have another circuit board to try, but of course I don’t.
I’ve heard back from Tony at EMW, they work late don’t they! The module they have on their website is p/n 606 (green label), I have p/n 607 (red label) which they don’t list.
I’ve written back and I’m waiting to hear from him.
It’s a tricky one, module repair £35, new washer £180, I can see why people don’t do repairs any more. The machine is 11 years old, so it might be time to replace it. Still works well otherwise, though. At least I’m not looking at a new module for £80 which is definitely not worth it!
